In this next passage, I discuss my ideas/feelings about our genre day about websites. This is a copy of my blog from tumblr.
Hello everyone! For this week’s blog I will discussing our past adventures of the week including our group’s webpage and also talking about my ideas for the upcoming multimodal project. During this week’s class we rhetorically analyzed various websites. The websites that were discussed in class include Google, Amazon, Democratic Party, and the Republican Party. Each website had aspects that explained their content and their overall message to the audience. For example, the simplicity of the Google page allowed for user friendly accessibility. The page is centered on the Google logo and the search bar, denoting Google’s original purpose as a search engine. Both the Democratic and Republican Party’s websites used patriotic colors an images to give an overall sense of nationalism to the view. A majority of these websites also used various spaces to advertise their involvement in social media, a chance to become prevalent in the younger demographic. This use of social media was extremely noticeable on the Republican Party’s page. I found it remarkable on the Republican Party’s page in the lower part where they depicted republicans from various minority groups and women. Rhetorically, this is a wonderful idea by the Republicans to demonstrate that they aren’t just the rich white males that society makes them out to be. I thought this was a great exercise in class that allowed us as students to put our rhetorical analysis skills to the test.
Also this week, we were tasked with creating our own webpage as a group. We had to use a member of our group’s argument to inspire a webpage. We chose my argument, the question if standardized testing is outdated or not. So we decided to create a website for SAT in which we would use the test as a tool for the audience. We included tabs for studying tools, registering for the test, and facts about the SAT test. Overall, we attempted to portray the SAT in a positive way, a step towards our future in a college or university.
Finally, I will be talking about my approach to the upcoming multimodal project. First I have to take a couple of tutorials on Premier so that I can become accustomed to the program in order to ensure a successful project. After I learn how to operate Premier, I can begin my research on my argument. My argument questions the success and importance of standardized testing. In order to fully understand the argument, I must learn about the opposing sides of the argument. After I complete my tutorials, do my research, I can begin to think about creating the video.

In this next Genre piece, I did some research in an attempt to link the subject of my collaborative essay to my major. Initially, it was a challenge architecture and gangs but I found this architecture firm known as Studio Gang Architects. Within my paper, I focused on the possible positive effects of being in a gang. Studio Gang Architects focus on such aspects of being in a gang such as group collaboration, teamwork, and commitment to one common goal. In this picture is one of their more famous designs, the Aqua Tower in Chicago.
